Thanks for upping these games !phil.

I have a question for you. Why the hell are players forfeiting?

12/8/05
seese vs thanecyan -Seese forfeits
Devious_ vs KovaaK -Devious_ forfeits
fix vs Kovaak -fix forfeits

12/15/05
Locktar vs thanecyan -Locktar forfeits
slik43 vs Kovaak -slik43 forfeits

If they think they might lose, is it somehow to their advantage to forfeit the way the tourny rules are setup, or are they just trying to save face, against an inevitable loss?

fix forfeited partly because of me specifying an incorrect irc channel initially

devious forfeited because hes 2ez

seese forfeited because i dunno why, maybe time zone difference?

locktar forfeited i dunno why.. he is active... it might be cyans fault

slik forfeited because hes 2ez

I would think that everyone will attempt to play matches that have been recorded as forfeits. Def vs tri was recorded as a forfeit and def offered to play the match anyway, giving tri the ability to recover from -1 points.

That makes sense although in seese's case, if the time zone difference is a problem then he may as well drop out of the tournament altogether as he will have the same problem against all his opponents he goes up against from the US.

In Locktar's case, I'm probably not the only one surprised to see him forfeit his games against anyone, as it just seems totally out of character for him. Hopefully it was just an honest mistake and Locktar and Cyan will be be able to have a chance to make-up their games as well.

It's a disappointment for everyone when the top players in the tourny are forfeiting. It also seems a little too much of coincidence that they are forfeiting against opponents they are likely to lose against. Why bother signing up for a tournament if you're not going to play your games. It's one thing for the weaker players to forfeit their games, but it sets a very bad example for everyone when the stronger more respected players are not following through.

Hopefully in the case of "fix vs Kovaak", "Locktar vs thanecyan" and "seese vs thanecyan" make-up games will be scheduled.

Ok, heres the thing. The game was scheduled to around 3 in the morning - writing an essay and working does not allow me to stay up and skip the whole next day. I knew that so i messeged Cyan a couple of days before the game and also tried to find him on irc, which I couldnt. The night the game was supposed to be played Cyan msg me (01:30 in the morning) on irc and says "hey we are gonna play now, Im waiting". And 2 hours later DonKing msg me and says I lost of forfeit. Which is ok by me since I didnt show up. The days after I asked Cyan serveral times If he could play the game any other time - but he didnt wanna play since he obviously had "won".
And its strange because me and some other fellow actually played two 2on2 against him and def on an american server, there too I asked him if he wanted to play. Not much more I can do. Im willing to play him whenever.
At least I have played tri. Thats something.
And really, I would love playing Cyan.

I think every euro can play every game if you just arrange it and speak. Ive been playing several games against americans, including def, tri, bogojoker and others so I cant see that there must be a problem if you just speak to eachother on irc or whatever.

I've been involved in tournaments myself and I know what that's like. It's too bad there wasn't some sort of a scheduling system in place that also revolved around the players schedule and not just the weekly time frame.

As !phil suggested they might have a make-up week for special cases so I would follow-up with him to see if it's possible to re-schedule your matches.

"That makes sense although in seese's case, if the time zone difference is a problem then he may as well drop out of the tournament altogether as he will have the same problem against all his opponents he goes up against from the US."

If all NA players refuses to play any other time than 02:00-05:00 in the morning, I can assure you that there will a lot of dropouts, not only from me but also from other euros - such as LocKtar. Im not surprised that the Cyan - LocKtar fight did not happen.

"If they think they might lose, is it somehow to their advantage to forfeit the way the tourny rules are setup, or are they just trying to save face, against an inevitable loss?"
In what way have I saved my face? And since when have i ever forfeited a tourneygame due to "... an inevitable loss"? If I thought I would have had no chance against most opponents I would never had signed up from the start.

seese, I think you're misunderstanding the flow of the conversation here. I'm on your side. I'd like to see you play ALL your games. Initially when I commented in post #2:

"If they think they might lose, is it somehow to their advantage to forfeit the way the tourny rules are setup, or are they just trying to save face, against an inevitable loss?"

I was asking !phil was was going on, because I found it odd that so many top players were forfeiting or being forfeit from their matches. This is not only a huge loss to you the players, but to everyone else who wants to see this tournament be successfull and some good games come of this competition.

When I commented in post #7:
"That makes sense although in seese's case, if the time zone difference is a problem then he may as well drop out of the tournament altogether as he will have the same problem against all his opponents he goes up against from the US."

!phil only made a best guess as to the time zone being the reason why you didn't show up for your match. I commented that "if" the time zone was a problem for you, then how is that going to change for any of your future match-ups against US players.

You'll have to believe me when I say, my intention is not to make things more difficult for you. I think in Europe you, fix, and Locktar have all proven to be stellar competitors and have a solid track record for showing up to your matches. It is for this reason that I find it so odd that there have been so many forfeits so early into the tournament.

Ah, you're such a bad suck up oneshotflinch. Pathetic springs to mind when I see all your rubbish ramblings. You have become CHTV's (NOT CHATV's) new mascot for yielding a dull, boring life. After having no choice but to glance over your comments from the _majority_ of recent demos uploaded, it strikes me as to what you hope to achieve. So far, we've seen you pick on a retard for serveral pages and now we see you tremble at seese replying to you in a manner you did not expect. A Climaxing Classic, because he is a noted dueler he MUST be right in everything he says and you MUST reply in a soft and suttle way due to his rep. If this was Adrenalin for example, or perhaps an average/mediocre player you would of:

a). Flamed him
b). Tried a Hagge

But no, it was the legendary seese therefore thy must respond in a civilised, non vulgar manner. Enough said. (I unlike you, prefer to be short and sweet.)

You fucking loser, nice ominous approach to dealing with me you fucking coward.

I don't know if Seese is right. I haven't been playing politics as far as running the tournament. I was just surprised that there has been so many forfeits from players not known for forfeiting. Dvs and Slik I can understand as they don't have a very good track record to begin with. As for Adrenalin why on earth would I treat Seese in the same manner? I never flamed him Seese or sucked up. If that's what you think, then you're reading my posts completely out of context.

Go back to school and work on your literacy, stop acting totally fucking lame ominous faggot, and finally no one gives a fuck what a nameless loser like you thinks. Get a fucking life you dim-witted freak.

I guess your ominous words are not all that truthful, here you are yet again, running your know it all, self-important, highfalutin big mouth, with nothing really important or relevant to say other than a whole lot of unfounded assumptions and conspiracy theories.

Have you asked yourself what it is about me that really bothers you? Do you really care about Adrenalin that much, that you feel you need to go to his defense? Or is this a matter of pride and you feel like I somehow am taking over your turf? Honestly mx, what point are you really trying to make here? You probably haven't even thought that far ahead, because it's obvious by your immaturity and your self-convoluted pride, that in your mind the world revolves totally around little you and really nothing or anyone really matters. It's all about what mx wants, what mx thinks, what mx is about. Dude you fucking suck. Just give it up. Didn't you already get beat up in AC2 by Dustin-? Why don't you go dwell on that and nuture your wounds, or at least something a little more constructive than trying to take me on.

With CET being 6 hours ahead of even EST (never mind central or western players), realistically on weekdays you are not going to be able to get many matches scheduled before midnight at the absolute earliest, even if your opponent is prepared to come straight home from work, sit down and play. I know it's not easy to fit transatlantic games into a European schedule (I played in NA NQR), but as it's an american tourney, basically you have to put up with it.

For example, Cyan is 7hrs behind you, which means that when he msged you at 01:30, it was 18:30 for him - pretty early and he simply might not be able to play earlier than that even if he wanted to.

It's not ideal situation but I'd say that any european who works fulltime is going to have trouble playing in an NA tourney with pre-scheduled matches. Obviously duelling only needs to satisfy 2 players instead of 8, but even so...

or the NA players could play at 6am and the eu's at midnight? would that be more realistic... get some nice rest before the game, play, and head off to work?

LoL I was commenting from a spectator POV. Yeah he owned me on slip and broke me on dm2. At the time I was bothered but now I'm not, I had to download slip and I played too offensively on dm2 with high ping. If I had no life and loads of time and was extremely sad, I might just *might* dedicate that time to doing some research upon you and hitting you with it but there's not alot you can look up for with a nobody. :)
