Comparing Griffin with Reload is like comparing a rusty bicykle with a fast sportcar! But as we all know from the fairy tales, the turtle was the one winning the race against the rabbit.

OK dudes. Who do you think would win Micheal Jordan vs Wayne Gretzky in boxing? Cause this is the same question.

Obviously Phil means that DM6 isnt either of their best maps. Let me put it like this.

DM6=Boxing
DM4=Hockey
DM2=Basketball

It actually wasn't a bad analogy. However you could always say that you're still playing quake. It isn't perfect, but it wasn't bad.

no i meant youre comparing two things which are not comparable (since they were never even close to a lan or any kind of competition).

i threw boxing in there just for variety :p

cata, i never meant anything like what you are saying. but now that you mention it i think griffin is phenomenal on dm6 no worse than dag if he practices. still not comparable though cause reload could beat dag also :)

and besides, gretzky can box im sure after all that hockey :) and jordan is no chump either :) now you just gotta figure out which one is which

in my opinion griffin has better movement, much better :) yari? check his pov, he plays real shit ... mortuary that loose to reload would own yari the same as reload owned mortuary :) griffin didnt play serious first of all

phil,

Thought about running a search for 'poker' in the comments db and pressing delete to get rid of all that spam?

I'm pretty sure the reason someone is probably doing this is not because they can, but they are trying to create a lot of links to web pages so search engines will those pages are important. Which means, this isn't some idle prank. It will probably persist to go on as long as this site tolerates it.

I'd look into some spam filter plugins.

phil,

Whenever you show me a demo of an australian player playing defensive and for the sake of winning I will believe that they have what it takes to even touch dag. But from what I've seen, Reload, Sting, Mortuary, are so far off it would hurt seeing them get beaten up by dag.

Sure, they play enjoyable, fast quakeworld, but their opponents are mostly shit and both play for the fun of it. Where as dag, while still being able to play fast always focuses on total mapcontrol, if that involves playing defensive as fuck, then I'm sure he would do it.

Now I'm not saying dag or griffin plays against the best possible opponents, the same goes for them. Mostly its boring rape demos against division 5 players or something like that.
But they've both shown what they are capable off at several lans and online versus eachother.

But for now, dont compare dag with anyone from australia, its just pathetic.

GriffiN might have been fooling around in THIS particular DM6 demo, and probably many others, but when he plays more seriously.... he can beat dag, and there is a demopak (I believe) here in ch-tv that shows that. It's like 8 demos of them two? Can't remember.

Still, GriffiN is enjoyable to watch even in this kind of demos ;)

putty,

Have you tried setting the comments counter variable in the comments table to the variable in the qw demo listings comments counter so the number of comments will show accurately? If you're having an issue of passing variables page-to-page you'll need to use a super (global/environmental) variable:

I am not comparing, #12. You are. I am saying they are not comparing, since there is no basis (since 1999) to compare them on. I am just saying it is theoretically POSSIBLE that dag or griffin can beat reload and reload can beat dag or griffin, on any map.

Yeah, that's cool. Seeing that bug makes me question the design of the page tis all. I think ideall the same variable should be used in both instances so there's never a variance like we're seeing here. I'm sure he's decent and all, but bugs like that call for a little refactoring IMHO.

Why lan will not happen? Just need sponsors for it, for example: QW community ~1000x5euros, should be enougth for it or at least to pay Reload/Mort tickets for next QhLan.

A LAN with some of the great players COULD actually still happen... if, for instance Quakecon decides to pickup QW as their 2nd main 1v1 game this year alongside Q4, it could happen.

Last year Quake 2 was picked up as Quakecon and had a prize split of $10 000/$7 000/$5 000 for 1st/2nd/3rd, and something similar could happen for QW this year. It would still mean players would have to get to that tourney, but gaming clans/sponsors might be interested in sending players.

Last year one European (Purri) was able to attend the Quake 2 tourney @ Quakecon because he DID get sponsorsed, and he went on to win the tourney easily.

QW community is definitely larger than the Q2 community, and I could see some players getting sponsorship to go (Reppie for instance), and who knows who else might go on their own for the prize money...

"Last year one European (Purri) was able to attend the Quake 2 tourney @ Quakecon because he DID get sponsorsed, and he went on to win the tourney easily."

He was actually sponsored by fellow members of the q2 comunity. I think it was members from the clan 30+ or something like that (might also have been others).

Reload is fucking awesome, and Mort is not even in his league. But Griffin vs Reload? griffin wins. Dag vs reload? well dag wins with boring(yet smarter) style...oh wait a minute, that would be all to convinient...reload's actually pretty fucking smart too. Mort's over-rated and pimped on here because hes one of the few talents the aussies play with...they come from a competitive nation so "playing like a pussy" is a valid argument in the case of a loss. Ie:dag beats mort, watch the hordes of aussies saying "omg dag playin camp faggot defense noobcunt ass" when the truth is, he just strategically pwned. These guys will never amount to a griffin or dag. Forget about kane and TGI u faggots.

Reload would spawn rape the shit out of dag and griffin. ( no offence )

All of them are smart, all have great aim. Reload can generate higher frag counts. I have seen reload play against alot of smart quakers, also seen him play against alot of conservative players that only attack when they have a complete advantage and they run and hide like girls when they get hit first in a 1on1 fight. I am not saying he would dominate euros but I will say if he ever played some of them there would be quite a few good upsets.

If I remember tgi correctly reload used a sensitivity of 23 a standard ps/2 rate of 40 an fov of 90 no filter and a ball mouse. All the people he played against in australia were all dialup users including himself.

I seriously doubt he or anyone could have aimed a lg with that setup against the competition at the time.

What alot of euros don't understand is his reflexes were completely off the chart and dead accurate with that stupid setup. Add all the qw time accrued over the years plus the general advance in technology which everyone has benefited from. And I think its safe to say he hasn't gone backwards at all since those days.
